A lo largo de los siglos, pas\u00f3 varias veces de manos musulmanas a cristianas. En 1243, fue entregado a la Orden de Santiago<\/strong> por orden de Fernando III el Santo, convirti\u00e9ndose en sede de una encomienda. Ya en 1550, y ante su deterioro y la estabilidad b\u00e9lica del momento, fue definitivamente abandonado.<\/p>\n

Hoy en d\u00eda, del castillo se conserva principalmente la\u00a0Torre del Homenaje<\/strong>, construida en ladrillo y mamposter\u00eda, junto a restos de sus accesos originales, como la\u00a0Puerta del Sol<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
